Darius Rucker Hits the Million Mark!

Less than a year after its release, Darius Rucker's solo country project, 'Learn To Live,' has been certified platinum by the RIAA, marking one million albums sold.

"I feel so blessed to have been embraced in the country music community with this album, and I couldn't have done it without all the support from country radio and country music fans," Darius gushed, before adding a sincere, "Thank you!"

The first three singles from 'Learn To Live' have all hit No. 1 on the Billboard country singles chart.

Lady Antebellum Conquered A/C Charts First

Lady Antebellum's debut album spawned an impressive three Top 10 hits on the country singles charts, but fans might be surprised to hear the trio actually appeared near the top of another music chart before their CD was released. Two years ago, piano virtuoso Jim Brickman tapped the then-unknown Lady A to perform on his song, 'Never Alone.' The tune was a Top 20 adult contemporary hit.

Lady A is also featured in the 'Never Alone' video. Watch it after the jump.

Taylor Swift Rewrites the Record Books

Taylor Swift's current album and tour are dubbed 'Fearless,' and when it comes to sales numbers, there's no fear that the 19-year-old will be slowing down any time soon! 'Fearless' is now enjoying its 20th week at the top of the country album chart. It's also the best-selling album across all musical genres so far this year.

Taylor now joins Garth Brooks and Shania Twain as the only country acts in the Billboard SoundScan era (begun in 1991) to have placed not one but two albums at the top of Billboard's Country Albums sales chart for 20 weeks or more. 'Fearless' jumped back to the top of the chart last week, 36 weeks after its release. And Taylor's self-titled debut disc, released in 2006, continues to be one of country music's best sellers, currently sitting at No. 11 after 143 weeks on the chart.

Lady A Celebrating First No. 1 Single!

Lady Antebellum has their first No. 1 tune in both the US and Canada this week, as 'I Run To You' ascends to the top spot in both countries. The song, Lady A's third single, was co-penned by all three members of the group -- Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott, along with veteran tunesmith Tom Douglas.

"This is absolutely surreal," said Dave, from Boise, Idaho, today. "A No. 1 is something you never think will actually happen, and it is certainly something that we will never forget! We are so overwhelmed from the support of the fans and country radio, and we want to give a special shout out to Tom Douglas for pushing us as songwriters and challenging us to put these beautiful lyrics into a song."

'American Idol' Alum Joins Rascal Flatts on Top of Charts

After 'American Idol' season six finalist Chris Sligh was voted off the show in March 2007, he headed for Nashville. And when the curly-haired, bespectacled singer-songwriter is in Music City, you can often find him hanging with other ex-Idols like Phil Stacey and Bo Bice, who've also made Nashville their home. But mostly, Sligh keeps himself busy touring, and writing and recording music for the contemporary Christian market. He's even up for a Dove Award this week, nominated as Best New Artist.

But Sligh has also, somewhat unexpectedly, found a measure of success in country music, thanks to Rascal Flatts. The group's latest single, 'Here Comes Goodbye,' which Sligh wrote with his friend Clint Lagerberg, just reached No. 1. It's also featured on the trio's chart-topping 'Unstoppable' album. Sligh is still finding himself trying to determine the significance of it all.

Keith Urban Does Indeed Defy Gravity

Keith Urban has his very first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The country superstar's sixth studio CD, 'Defying Gravity,' makes its debut on the top of the all-genre album chart, selling more than 171, 000 copies in its first week.

"It a very up-record. It's about love, optimism and rising above," Keith tells The Boot of the album's overall theme. "I tend to gravitate towards hope. Even in the down periods, I always gravitate towards the little bit of light that might be there."

Darius Rucker is Two for Two

Darius Rucker chalks up yet another accomplishment that very few recording artists can boast. With his latest single, 'It Won't Be Like This for Long,' at the top of the charts, he is the first male singer in 15 years to have his first two country singles hit No. 1. His first was 'Don't Think I Don't Think About It,' which spent two weeks at the top back in October.

According to Billboard, Clay Walker was the last male country singer to have his first two singles peak at the top, with both 'What's It to You' and 'Live Until I Die' hitting No. 1 back in 1993 and 1994 respectively. Clint Black and Brooks & Dunn are the only other male artists to achieve the same feat with their country radio debuts. On the ladies' side, Jamie O'Neal, Faith Hill, Deana Carter and Wynonna are the only female artists in history to have their first two country songs hit No. 1.

Taylor Swift Tops Pop Charts

A country star has bumped Beyonce out of the top spot on the pop charts. Taylor Swift's 'Love Story' is now the No. 1 song on the USA Today Mediabase Top 40 chart, with Beyonce's 'Single Ladies' falling to No. 3, behind Lady Gaga's 'Just Dance.'

This is just one in a long line of crossover feats for the 19-year-old songbird. Swift's latest album, 'Fearless,' spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album charts, which covers all genres of music. She was the biggest-selling country artist of 2008 and No. 2 overall, just behind rapper Lil Wayne.

Dierks Bentley on 'Fire' With Two No. 1s

Dierks Bentley claims the top spot on two charts this week. His latest CD, 'Feel That Fire,' makes its debut at No. 1 on the country albums charts, selling more than 71,000 copies in its first week. The title track also lands at the top of the country singles charts, marking Bentley's sixth career No. 1 hit. (Watch him perform it live in our studio!)

"It's a hybrid of all the records I've made," Bentley said of his fourth studio album in an exclusive interview with The Boot. "The last record, 'Long Trip Alone,' is more serious. But this one combines that type of music with a lot more fun stuff. And I couldn't be more proud of it."

Pat Green Makes Impressive Debut

Pat Green's latest album, 'What I'm For,' vaults into Billboard's Country Albums chart this week at the No. 2 spot, right behind Taylor Swift's 'Fearless.'

Elsewhere on the country charts, the first single from the album, 'Let Me,' is headed toward the Top 10. Green says the song, written by Marc Beeson and Danny Orton, first caught his attention because of its unique perspective.

"It's a love song that never uses the word love," Green said in an exclusive interview with The Boot. "You don't hear that very often. Love songs are a dime a dozen, and that seemed to be a different slant on a common subject."

Blake Shelton's 'Wakeup Call' Puts Him on Top

Blake Shelton's 'She Wouldn't Be Gone' is the No. 1 song on the country charts for the second week in a row.

"I love to sing songs about regret and mistakes you make along the way," Shelton tells Dial-Global of his latest hit. "'She Wouldn't Be Gone' is extremely emotional and has a little different slant on things the guy could have done right along the way."

Though Shelton didn't write the song himself -- it was written by Jennifer Adan and Cory Batten -- he can certainly relate. He says he takes the lyrics to heart when it comes to romance.

Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire Make Chart History

'Cowgirls Don't Cry,' the latest Top 10 single for Brooks & Dunn was not only inspired by Reba McEntire, it also helped the duo and the Oklahoma redhead make country-music history.

Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn's 41st Top 10 single puts them just ahead of supergroup Alabama for the most top 10 singles by any country duo or group. And with McEntire's inclusion on the radio version of the song, 'Cowgirls' also becomes her 56th Top 10 hit, making her the female country artist with the most Top 10s, outpacing her buddy Dolly Parton.

Taylor Swift Celebrates Lucky Number Six

For the sixth straight week, Taylor Swift's 'Fearless' album claims the No. 1 spot on the all-genre Billboard Top 200 chart. The country superstar's sophomore album is the first to spend six straight weeks at the top since 50 Cent's 2005 project, 'The Massacre.' Following Swift in the Top 5 this week are the latest releases from Nickelback, Kanye West, Beyoncé and the 'Twilight' movie soundtrack.

'Fearless' has now sold more than 1.5 million copies, which combined with sales of her eponymous debut album pushes Swift's total CD sales to more than 5 million. Those impressive numbers made the precocious teen the best-selling country artist of 2008.

Eagles, Swift, Otto Tops in 2008

The Eagles' long-awaited 'Long Road Out of Eden' has bragging rights for the best-selling country album of 2008. That's the verdict from Billboard magazine, which lists the country-rock legends on the top of this year's country album charts.

Taylor Swift's eponymous debut comes in at No. 2, but the teen pop sensation is No. 1 when it comes to overall sales. Her first and second albums combined have sold almost 6 million copies. Sales of Sugarland's recent release, 'Love on the Inside,' combined with their sophomore CD, 'Enjoy the Ride,' make the duo the only artist with two albums on the year-end Top 10 list.

Taylor Swift Tops Charts, Makes History

With sales of more than 592,000 copies in just one week, Taylor Swift's 'Fearless' has made the highest debut of a country album this year. The sophomore CD from the teen country sensation is sitting pretty at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Top Country album charts this week.

"Every single song has a face attached," Swift writes of the album on her MySpace page. "They're all about people. Some even mention names. But most importantly, these songs tell my stories.
